1. What are the browser requirements for using the application?
Applications are supported in all browsers except Internet explorer.
2. Is there a mobile app?
We do not have a downloadable app for your phone or tablet but the application is designed to render to any phone or tablet using the device’s web browser.
1. What is the sign up process?
This is the initial step before we set you up with your personalized clean energy dashboard. As part of the journey, we ask you questions related to below sections:
- My Info
- Energy Choices
- Energy Usage
2. The google map is not showing my home address?
Please email YellowTin Support with your first name, last name, home address so our support team can look into this. Please mention your email address in the subject line.
3. Is there a way for me to add another home address?
Unfortunately, we do not support two homes. We recommend you to on-board once again for your second home using a different email address than the one currently being used.
4. Can you still analyze my clean energy savings?
If you already have solar installed, we analyze if and how much excess energy your solar system has been producing over the last 12 months by looking at your utility data. We check if the excess energy (if available) will meet your current and future needs. These needs include any of the energy choices you have selected but also includes if you indicated that you plan to get an air conditioner, swimming pool or a spa.
If your current system does not have sufficient capacity to support your current and future energy needs, we recommend the optimal solar system needed (capacity, number of panels). You can either add on to your existing solar system or plan on getting a second stand alone solar system and this is best discussed with your solar installer.
5. I am currently renting. Can I estimate my savings for my future home?
You can select your building type as “I own a Single Family Home/ Duplex/ Townhome” on the My Info step of on-boarding so all the relevant energy choices for a home show up. For the energy usage, you can choose the recommended energy authorization option if you feel your base usage will be around the same. If you are quite sure your energy usage will change, we recommend using the manual slider option and choosing a monthly electricity bill that would reflect your bill for your future home.
6. How do I navigate back to the My Info, Roof Info or Energy Choices section of the sign up process?
Please use the left navigation panel and click on the section you would like to go back to. Once you go back, you will need to use the CONTINUE button on the right bottom of each step to move forward.
7. Do you need me to provide information on my existing energy choices?
It is not required for you to do this but we strongly recommend you to do so. The more information you provide, the more accurate are our insights and recommendations to save money.
8. Why do I need to authorize my energy usage and billing information? How do you use it?
We use your energy usage and billing info in order to create your personalized energy dashboard, specifically to analyze the optimal clean energy solutions for you. This includes sizing the solar system, calculating key financial metrics such as payback, and savings along with optimal utility rate plan. This allows us to provide key insights and recommendations to save you money and lower your carbon footprint.
1. How is the Cost calculated on the dashboard?
Net Cost = Upfront Cost – Incentives, where
- Upfront Cost: Includes the cost of the equipment, labor and permits required.
- Incentives: Includes federal, state and any other incentives available.
2. How can I see my Savings Overview over a specific time frame?
The Savings information is available to view over a 20 year, 1 year and 1 month time frame (time frame control can be found on the top right section of the dashboard).
3. How is the 20 year, 1 year, 1 month savings calculated?
The savings represented on the dashboard are the energy cost savings and do not include the upfront cost for the energy choice. As an example, if you currently have a gasoline vehicle and indicated you plan to get an electric vehicle, then 20 year savings for the Electric Vehicle = Energy costs with the gasoline vehicle – Energy costs with your future electric vehicle. Let us put some numbers to this example so you can understand better:
- 20 Year Energy costs with the gasoline vehicle is $65,000
- 20 Year Energy costs with your future electric vehicle is $30,000
- 20 Year Energy cost savings = $65,000 – $30,000 = $35,000
You will now see $35,000 as the 20 year savings on the electric vehicle card. You can look at these details anytime by clicking on the Learn More link for any specific energy choice.
4. What is Trees planted?
This is the equivalent of the amount of CO2 reduction by switching to the specific energy choice.
Say you currently have a Honda Civic gasoline car and are planning to buy a Nissan Leaf, then you are reducing the amount of CO2 emissions that would have been emitted from the use of the gasoline car. This CO2 savings is equivalent to new trees planted.
5. How can I log out from my account?
Please click on your name (found at the top right corner of the dashboard) and you will see the logout option in the dropdown menu.
1. How can I change the building type associated with my dashboard account?
To update the building type of your residence, please email YellowTin Support with your first name, last name and home address so our support team can make this change. Please mention your email address in the subject line.
2. How can I update my home address on my dashboard account?
Your energy data is closely tied to your home address. Hence the address in the account cannot be updated unless it is misspelled. Please email YellowTin Support with your first name, last name, current home address, new home address so our support team can help update your address. Please mention your email address in the subject line.
3. I have misspelled my name. How do I correct it?
- Log into your dashboard account.
- Click on your name on the extreme right top
- Select the My Information option under the menu.
- Change your first name/ last name as needed.
- Click the Save button.
4. How can I update my phone number?
- Log into your dashboard account.
- Click on your name on the extreme right top
- Select the My Information option under the menu.
- Enter or edit the Phone Number field.
- Click the Save button.
5. How can I change the email address associated with my dashboard account?
Email address is a unique key to identify your account. Hence it is not possible to change this on your own.
If you have misspelled your email address while on-boarding and would like it to be corrected, please email YellowTin Support with your first name, last name, current home address so our support team can make this change. Please mention your email address in the subject line.
6. I forgot the email address associated with my dashboard account. How can I retrieve it?
Please email YellowTin Support with your first name, last name and home address so our support team can retrieve your account details. Please mention your email address in the subject line.
7. How can I change my dashboard account password?
If you know your password and simply want to change it, follow these steps:
- Log into your account.
- Click on your name on the extreme right top
- Select the Change Password option under the menu.
- Type your Current Password.
- Enter and confirm your New Password in the provided fields.
- Click the Save button.
Security is super important to us so please use the following guidelines to create your password:
- 8-13 characters long.
- At least an uppercase (A-Z) and a lowercase alphabet (a-z), a number (0-9) and a special character.
8. I forgot my password. How can I reset it?
Select ‘Forgot password’ option on the login page. You will be prompted to enter your email address, after which we will email you a temporary password. You can then login to your dashboard and change your password to a permanent one.
9. How do I change my previously provided energy choices selections?
- Log into your account.
- Click on your name on the extreme right top.
- Select the energy choices option under Account & Settings.
- Select any of the energy choices and edit the required details.
- Click the Save button.
